Testing images for scientific purposes
The TESTIMAGES archive is a huge and free collection of sample images designed for analysis and quality assessment of different kinds of displays and image processing techniques. The archive includes more than 2 million images originally acquired and divided in three different categories: SAMPLING and SAMPLING_PATTERNS (aimed at testing resampling algorithms), COLOR (aimed at testing color rendering on different displays) and PATTERNS (aimed at testing the rendering of standard geometrical patterns). Graphixy is a freeware and lighter (140 KB) standalone program designed to get 'x' and 'y' graphical co-ordinates of an image in scientific, engineering & statistical applications and in image data processing. By drawing an image (or) hovering mouse over the pre-loaded image (using Load option), the 'x' and 'y' co-ordinates can be recorded and saved as notepad .txt file The saved data can be exported to Excel spreadsheet and viewed in graph format. Drawn images can be replayed from the recorded notepad (.txt) data file. Data can also be saved in image file (jpeg; .bmp; .gif; .jpg; .png) formats. Welcome to CSFigures, the generative rendering program for all sorts of interpretations of digital roots. Digital roots in this program are constructed on a basis of a multiplication table, but with alternate counting systems contrasted, different from 0-9. The data is then analyzed by adding the imaginary digital symbols together, to achieve a single digit number, or alternately working with heuristics such as finding the last digit of each number. You may see your options once you make a selection of your desired counting system length, and a text file of the first square root of the whole system is thereafter generated. SHOCKING NOTE: the system for 3 was once broken although it mimics every other, as well as the system for 66 and perhaps more! -

Mostly notorious is null-hypothesis significance testing (NHST) based on p-values. Learn Julia the hard way
The Julia base package is pretty big, although at the same time, there are lots of other packages around to expand it with. The result is that on the whole, it is impossible to give a thorough overview of all that Julia can do in just a few brief exercises. Therefore, I had to adopt a little 'bias', or 'slant' if you please, in deciding what to focus on and what to ignore. Julia is a technical computing language, although it does have the capabilities of any general-purpose language and you'd be hard-pressed to find tasks it's completely unsuitable for (although that does not mean it's the best or easiest choice for any of them). Julia was developed with the occasional reference to R, and with an avowed intent to improve upon R's clunkiness. R is a great language, but relatively slow, to the point that most people use it to rapidly prototype, and then implement the algorithm for production in Python or Java. Julia seeks to be as approachable as R but without the speed penalty. -
