compilation issue with 3.96.1

I've tried 3.96 and it 'configured/maked' allright...
but 3.96.1 doesn't compile : gcc complains about a
previously defined 'int8_t' type (which is defined in
sys/type.h, included from 'stdlib.h')

I run a debian Sarge (3.1) and uses gcc 3.3.4...
